The One with Crisscross

13. Title & Author: Crisscross (A Repairman Jack Novel) by F. Paul Wilson (415 pages)
Genre: Fiction--Thriller
Completed: 29 September 2007

Summary & Review:
This book follows the recurring character of Repairman Jack, or just Jack, through a twisting plot of two of his "fix-its;" He hunts down a man blackmailing a nun, while also tracking down a woman's lost son who caught up in the eerie cult of the Dormentalists. Jack ends up getting really deep into the church/cult, and the fix-it jobs don't turn out how he, or the reader, expected. It is a long, and complicated, polt that would take me a long time to sum up so I'll just leave it at that.

I came across this book and series by chance at the BYU libraray and decided to give it a try--and I'm glad I did. I was really intrigued by this character who is the man people turn to when the you-know-what has hit the fan. I expected him and the book to have more like a Jack Ryan/Clancy feel, but was surprised by the amount of the fantastic and supernatural. Wilson's writing style was entertaining and fast paced, and that kept the pages moving. Would I read another one in this series? Definitely. Quote: "I can't wait till I reach the Fifth Rung. I'm going to name my xelton Pazuzu." (page 76)

Update: (8/3/2011) My sister and brother-in-law sent me an author-signed first edition of this novel for my birthday. A huge thank you to them for this wonderful addition to my collection!
